Luthier Pop is the result of one man’s vision and devotion to his craft — Dumitru Pop

Born in 1969 in Reghin, Dumitru Pop has finished a technical school specialised in woodworking. After getting his degree as a carpenter, he began working in the state factory, that today is named Hora S.A, in the acoustic and electric guitar field. His passion and curiosity for violinmaking and for bowed instruments itself let him to taught himself after spending hours watching his work colleagues who were working on string instruments. After a few years of working after hours in a small improvised workshop, he decided to go on this journey alone. Driven by passion and a lot of devotion and perseverance, he quit his factory job in 1996 and in the same year he open his private workshop at home.

Why We Exist

At LUTHIER POP, we believe that exceptional instruments are built through patience, precision, and a deep respect for tradition.

Rooted in the craft of violin making, our family workshop brings together generations of dedication to the art of creating fine string instruments. Each instrument reflects our commitment to quality, careful craftsmanship, and the pursuit of a beautiful, distinctive sound.

From the first stages of making to the final adjustments, every detail matters. Our work is guided by the belief that a fine instrument should not only meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, but also inspire the musician who brings it to life.

Our purpose is simple: to create instruments worthy of the hands that play them.
